Alright Ladies – are any of you readers of Segullah? It’s a literary journal designed to provoke thought and promote greater understanding and faith among Latter-day Saint women; a biannual publication – mostly essays and poetry. The editor-in-chief is Kathryn Soper. I raved about her book, The Mother in Me, in an April post. And I’m currently reading her memoir, The Year My Son and I Were Born (about her seventh child who was born with Down’s Syndrome).
Segullah also has a blog where their staff share experiences, thoughts and pose questions about life, motherhood, and other issues pertinent to women. It is called Blog Segullah.
I was invited to write a guest post on Blog Segullah and it ran today.
If you’ve followed earlier posts of mine you will recognize the dialogue between me and Doug when we discovered our twin boys. I would love your feedback. Feel free to post a comment on Segullah’s blog. The women who gather there are very supportive, insightful and positive. My guest post is called One Wild and Precious Life. Click to link.
Just in case you’re wondering about the word “segullah.” In Hebrew it signifies a cherished personal possession that is set apart and diligently cared for; it is a term God uses with affection to describe those who love Him (Exodus 19:5, Psalms 135:4). The staff at Segullah use it as a reminder of the blessings and responsibilities that come with having a relationship with God.

Although I’m not LDS I think I may be checking this site in the future. I’m currently struggling with what the right choices are, for me as a mother and woman, for my family, etc. It is so beneficial to know there are others out there that I can gain support from.

I think almost every one of your posts, here and now also at Segullah, leave me in tears. I look forward to the time you get to reach your dream of writing a book of poetry. You definitely have a talent that will one day be shared more than just online! Love you.
