Five children in four years, including two sets of twins, brought new meaning to Mary Oliver's earnest question. Our little people aren't so little anymore, but life is still wild, still precious. And this is my meager attempt to hold on, make it last. I love Doug, running, hiking in the mountains, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, the edge of an ocean, and connecting with you here. So happy to have you along.

Love the pictures and the candy haunted house. We didn't do any Halloween crafts around here, maybe next year. Sorry you had a bad night, a few nights ago we had a LONG night and after it was over Dave said, well, at least nobody yelled. And yesterday I cut Phinn's finger while cutting his nails. The first time I have ever done that to any of my kids, and I got him pretty good. Being parents is wonderful and amazingly difficult – we all have moments we wish we could take back. Maybe that is why kids are so good at forgiving and forgetting.

Michelle – Ouch! I've cut little fingers too. Doesn't it make you feel awful?? You're right – we do all have moments we wish we could take back. I am learning so much from my children. We really ought to be more like them. Yes – forgive and forget.
ps – What do they do across the pond for Halloween?

Catherine! So happy to have finally visited your blog! Complete entertainment, if I must say so. I only wish I'd written more about my kids when they were this young. This is fabulous, and they will love reading your words as they get older. Hang in there! It was so fun seeing you the other day! Lots of love to you and the fam!

Shelli – Thanks for reading! I just checked out your Needle…website. Wow! You are awesome! What great ideas! And it was fun to see pics of your kids. You really do have such a beautiful family! Loved your decorating tips. Maybe some day I'll have time to take on some projects like that. It was great seeing you Shelli. We need to make it happen more often! Love you!

Cath, I copied your tree photo for my blog—I hope you don't mind. I thought it was so beautiful, and needed something representative of November. Are you okay with that? If not, I'll gladly remove it, but thought I should ask before I just totally steal it for too long! Let me know!
