As much as I try in all my writing, to maintain a voice that can be understood and appreciated by persons of any faith, this piece at Segullah today is admittedly Mormon.
Segullah is an LDS website (with a predominantly female audience) so Mormon lingo is to be expected. But hopefully, the story I tell there about our sacrament ordinance (similar to communion in other churches) will still resonate with you, no matter where you hang your ecclesiastical hat.

Very good article, I really like it — and I am amazed at how different the sacrament is in your Church, ;-). And I really appreciated the article by Joseph Fielding Smith — the link you gave me a couple of weeks ago. Gave me a lot to think about.

Beautiful words about the sacrament. I have also felt that significance when a young man and his Dad brought the sacrament to me while I was on bedrest with my last pregnancy. It was humbling to see them bless that one piece of bread and one cup of water just for me. The Atonement became very personal to me during that time.
