Note: This piece was later published in the Ensign magazine for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. December 2015 issue.
As much as I try in all my writing, to maintain a voice that can be understood and appreciated by persons of any faith, this piece at Segullah today is admittedly Mormon.
Segullah is an LDS website (with a predominantly female audience) so Mormon lingo is to be expected. But hopefully, the story I tell there about our sacrament ordinance (similar to communion in other churches) will still resonate with you, no matter where you hang your ecclesiastical hat.
For more on the sacrament and what it means for Mormons, you can check out this link.
Or, feel free to send me any questions. I’m always happy to clarify, answer as best I can, define jargon, or chat faith.
Currently working on our Favorite Children’s Books post. It will be up next week. xo
p.s. I just noticed Michelle’s wonderful post about her son Gabe’s ordination to the priesthood. She offers the perfect visual for words like Deacon and High Priest, as well as an excellent summation of why men in the LDS church (even young men) are given the priesthood.

Very good article, I really like it — and I am amazed at how different the sacrament is in your Church, ;-). And I really appreciated the article by Joseph Fielding Smith — the link you gave me a couple of weeks ago. Gave me a lot to think about.
Btw: China is final, we are planning to leave in August, but it might be a bit later. I started an English Version of my blog to write about China and… well, all else, ;-). So if you want to check it out: http://www.grazerlei.blogspot.com.

Corinna, so glad you were able to read both articles. And that they were helpful. Too bad you aren't closer. I think we could have a wonderful discussion in person. I have a couple questions for you… I'll email you personally. You're a dear. And I just visited your blog. Wunderbar! xo

Beautiful words about the sacrament. I have also felt that significance when a young man and his Dad brought the sacrament to me while I was on bedrest with my last pregnancy. It was humbling to see them bless that one piece of bread and one cup of water just for me. The Atonement became very personal to me during that time.

Finally. At last. What took me so long? I must tell you that this post meant something to me as well as so many others. His kind of caring is difficult to process–oh, but I am so thankful He does. xox
